We are now in recruiting season. It will be different this year. I'm concerned how it will turn out for us. (Us being the journalism program and also the school.)
For those who are not famliar with recruiting, in the past each area in the school presented a performance or two, or in our case (and Theatre and Visual Arts, also), have displays of work available. We passed out
copies of the paper, brochures describing the program, and were busy actually covering the event.
We'll need to still cover the event, but now, after several meetings, each of the schools that recruit for students have 55 minutes, as per school district directive. We are having a "Marti Gras" theme, complete
with whatever type of music is played at Marti Gras, and a parade around the gym.
After the parade, our excellent theater instructor (and department head) will speak briefly. Afterwards, students then can come out of the bleachers onto the floor to investigate our school's areas and to hopefully be signed up.
We'll see how it goes.
