Something I miss now that summer is over is taking a nap after lunch.
And, if I were king, I would rule that everybody would have the right to take a nap every day!
Summer is such a nice time to take naps! I get up early with Mrs. W., make us coffee and bring the newspaper for her to see before she leaves for work. After a morning of housework (I become the househusband), watering the "children" and eating lunch, then I'm sleepy and lay down for a bit.
I really enjoy sleeping during the day. If you're like me, you start getting sleepy after eating the noon meal. And if you've stayed up late working, doing homework or even just surfing the Internet or doing Facebook, then you'll want to rest come midday.
Personally, I really feel I've hit a wall on Monday and especially Tuesday at midday, after having worked at my part-time job at the local newspaper on Sunday and Monday nights. Normally we'll be out between 10:30 and 11 p.m., and even though it doesn't take too long to get home, 5:30 a.m. comes awfully quick!
Tuesday afternoons for the worst for me. I've already worked two consecutive nights and taught school on Monday and have gotten little sleep compared to the other days of the week, so hitting the wall comes early on Tuesday. Needless to say I go to sleep early Tuesday night.
And I see students throughout the afternoon everyday suffering from working late or staying up late to complete homework. I feel their pain come the afternoon because I know how they feel ... heavy eyelids, the brain wanting to shut down, lethargy ... and thus my thoughts turn to nap time.
So, If I were king ... I'd allow everybody who wanted one an hour (or longer) to take a nap!
