There's been much excitement over students having to tuck in their shirts and blouses. This is a requirement of the district's dress code.
The district's dress code states, "Shirts MUST be tucked inside pants (GIRLS and BOYS)." This is exactly how it is written, capitalized words and some enclosed in parenthesis,.
Personally, I think untucked shirts/blouses are the least of our problems, as a school and as a district. However, like all instructors I will enforce this regulation, and those nearing and entering the room will see signs posted, stating, "This is a tuck-in-your-shirt/blouse zone."
It's my observation the problems are with polo shirts students wear to comply with the dress code. Many come down to about the belt line, and there doesn't seem to be enough material left to tuck in.
Baggy shirts some boys like wearing that hang down to the top of their legs really don't have a place at school and should be tucked in, as a safety matter to both the wearer and others.
In fairness to the district, with all the excitement over having to dress in certain colored shirts/blouses and pants as per the dress code, and cries related to "individuality," I've never heard students yet complain about following a dress code for their jobs. Their employers don't seem to have a problem requiring a uniform shirt/blouse or certain colored clothing, and the student employees don't seem to have a problem with wearing them.
