You may not have realized it, but we've not had any rain for quite some time.
According to countrystudies.us, we should already have little more than 2 inches of rain this year. I couldn't find actual rainfall totals for 2011 to date, but I don't remember any rain or moisture so far, except for the ice that killed all of our plants back in mid-February and closed schools for a day.
I think we're going to get rain this afternoon or evening. During fourth period the parrots and also other birds seemed to be going crazy. I've noticed that when birds behave differently from what's normal, then they're telling us in their own way that a storm is coming.
They were flying close to the ground, were very noisy, and were looking for places to roost. Normally, at this time of the day they'd be much higher up, sitting in the trees.
The Weather Channel is predicting rain, as is the federal government's National Weather Service. (The latter is a fascinating site. It has so much to look at, and no ads!) Rain is expected to last into Wednesday night.
(The forecasts for Laredo, for Tuesday afternoon and night, were accurate as of 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, March 29.)
The reason? A cold front! Can you imagine it's almost April and we're going to get a cold front. Not too cold, though, just enough to get us out of the 90s.
However, the northeast part of the country is expecting to get up to one foot of snow by the end of the
week. How's that for an April Fool's joke?
Well, stay dry! (And warm!)
